Longing for older days..

  • Mood: contemplative
  • Music: sounds of Nature at my windows edge

Well, I gotta say that things where so much better and different back several years ago. We didn;t have the technical knowhow we do today. Things just seemed so  much nicer without  the world of electronic devices for me anyway. Longing for those days I am... to get off the couches and lazy chairs and do something requiring physical stamina just seemed natural back then. Today we have the computers, increased video games and movie technology, and so many other electronic devices that just wrap up todays youth and even some older adults. What ever happened to getting outdoors and enjoying friends, life, and nature. Blazing trails, setting up a campsite, wondering the local wooded areas and just enjoying the fresh air and exploration of the natural world. The days of lounging near a cascading waterfall, or laying in a meadow looking beyond are all but gone today. Technical advancements, folks demanding schedules, and outright lazyness has allbut consumed us as a human race. Even with all the demands we place upon ourselves and our kind, why can we not still find the time to venture beyond our confines and experience all that is yet again.

Maybe we have just become entirely to comfortable within our own patterns we establish. Maybe we no longer have that yearning to explore and accept all that is given us. I just don't understand how, with all that is available and taken for granted in todays world, why more people cannot find the time even if only for a brief moment.. to get out and enjoy what is...I too am guilty of much the same. I seem to find and make excuses that really are by no comparison acceptable ones for my lack of activities as well, I have recently taken stock (per say) and have come to the conclusion, I have no valid excuses as to why I cannot, nor do not get out more. So I have to wonder with other folks, if they actually sat and though a moment, what would they discover about themselves. Is there really a valid reason why one cannot find the time?

I plan to take full advantage of whatever time I can this season and for the remaining year, to do just that.. even if its only a brief 10 minutes or an incredible week long time period. There is way to much to see in this world, and an incredible amount of opportunity so long as we take and use it to our advantage. I hope others too will consider and take advantage of the time they have no matter how brief, to get out, see some of our natural world, partake in its rejuvination, express yourself. Plant, walk, paddle, camp, whatever..just get out and live life again the way we use to..

Hope you all have a great weekend ahead.. may your weather be nice, and may your hearts and minds guide you to do what use to come naturally.. Namaste

Oh, I sooooo hear what you're saying, Grizz. I really do. And I've often wondered about these things myself; life was so very different when we were kids, wasn't it?

Well, the good news is that we, at least, are doing the best we can to get out and enjoy Mother Nature's beauty. I suppose it's a good thing that both hubby and I hate to be cooped up - in fact, we've often talked about how great it would be if we could earn a living out of our camping experiences and day trips.

I think it's up to those of us who do strive to get out to share our experiences with others and encourage others to rediscover Mother Nature...

I hope you have a wonderful day and a wonderful weekend, my friend. May your weather be nice, and may you find the time to reconnect with Mother Earth...
